Live Music at the Cannabis Museum: Brother Hill – February 27th
The Cannabis Museum is proud to present a night of incredible live music with Brother Hill on February 27th! This special concert will showcase Brother Hill’s powerful fusion of Appalachian and Ukrainian folk traditions, set against the immersive and historic backdrop of the museum for a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
About Brother Hill
Brother Hill is a folk musician, singer, songwriter, and humanitarian volunteer from Dayton, Ohio. Hill performs solo as Brother Hill and as front man in Athens-based folk-quintet “Hill Spirits”.
Hill has been active in Ukraine since 2020, when he and colleague Ben Stewart began collaborating with Ukrainian musicians to build a “folk alliance” called “Slavalachia”. The goal of this project was to promote a message of cultural solidarity, and to forge new bridges for creative multi-cultural expression.
After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Hill founded the “From Ohio with Love” campaign, raising over $100k (primarily via charity concerts) for the purchase and delivery of emergency medical supplies directly to friends on the front lines. Hill personally delivered some of these items to the front and performed for soldiers stationed there.
Since 2023 Hill has been working with Creative Residence MC6 in the Carpathian mountains of Western Ukraine, hosting cultural events and psychological retreats for soldiers.
He has just returned from a three month stint in Ukraine where he co-created 2 psychological retreats for a total of 21 soldiers, and performed a collection of original, Appalachian, and Ukrainian music to continue his work of cultural bridge building.
