Born in 1934, (age 71 at time of interview), Charlie shares his experiences with cannabis cultivation. Charlie grew up poor with 10 siblings, in Deep Holler, a small community in Athens County Ohio. He started growing 10-15 plants annually, when he was about 40 years old, to supplement his income. He shares his challenges with groundhogs and other animals, his opinions on Ohio’s taxation on cannabis and the community's reliance on cannabis for economic survival.

Charlie 00:33 They was from this area. He grew up in Deep Harlow. She grew up right on around the other road here, her parents was up at the back of the racetrack. Crippens.

Charlie 00:51Hell no! We didn't have any.

Charlie 01:29I was visitin' this guy, and he gave me a few pills or few seeds in my hand. From then on, it was go.

Charlie 01:42Grew them and kept growin' from then on!
