The Cannabis Museum is hosting its first exhibit “A Psychedelic Art Experience” beginning Wednesday, October 19, 2022. We are not yet open during regular hours. Tours are by appointment only.

This 100+ piece show offers a remarkable collection of psychedelic and visionary art including works by Alex Gray, Stanley Mouse, and Rick Griffin, and pieces inspired by The Grateful Dead and other performers.

So what kind of things will be on display?

  • Original, contemporary Grateful Dead Concert Posters & Artwork – all framed and preserved.
  • Many original Blotter Art Prints, autographed by artists, musicians, and even visionaries like Albert Hoffman & Timothy Leary.
  • Autographs and signatures of Grateful Dead musicians, artists, and other key individuals from the counterculture movement..
  • Stay tuned on Instagram and Facebook where we will be releasing preview shots all week.

After years of planning, our team is ready to open a world-class Cannabis Museum in Athens, Ohio. Like all museums, our sustainability depends on the support of the community around us. Please join us by donating to become a Friend of the Cannabis Museum. It takes a community to raise a museum, and there is no community like ours.

This will be the first of many upcoming events! We hope you will join us in making the Cannabis Museum a worldwide destination to research, collect, preserve, and educate.

We Preserve the History of Cannabis

As fiber, food, fuel and medicine. Our collections crossover many other areas including ethnobotany, fiber production, the history of pharmacology, prohibition, propaganda, counterculture and psychedelia. Our collections of historic artifacts are preserved to share the stories of Cannabis.

The Cannabis Museum is an Ohio 501(c)(3) educational and research nonprofit organization, dedicated to revealing the history of mainstream cannabis use in the United States and around the world. It collects, preserves, and shares the history of cannabis use, culture, prohibition, and politics.
