Image of poppy juice being collected from seed pods. Text on the card is in Dutch and French. A google translation of the French is : Juice of several species of poppies, including white poppy, which has a narcotic property. Opium is obtained by collecting the juice that flows from the incisions made in the capsules of the papaver; it thickens quickly in the air, and the tears that are collected are agglomerated to constitute the commercial raw opium.
